Founded in 1957 by Avelino Maldonado, La Criolla is a Latino-owned business renowned for its unwavering commitment to quality. Maldonado began his journey by selling spices out of the trunk of his car in Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood. Within a few months, he leased a small warehouse and opened its doors in Chicago's Fulton Market area, at the corner of Randolph and Peoria.

La Criolla was established to cater to independent grocers serving Chicago's growing Hispanic market. In the same year, La Criolla introduced its specially formulated Adobo La Criolla Seasoning, which continues to be one of its most popular items.

While spices remain the cornerstone of La Criolla, the product line has expanded to include a wide variety of beans, peas, olives, olive oil, vanilla, honey, giardiniera, and more. In 2018, La Criolla moved to a 23,000 sq. ft. facility in Alsip, IL, enhancing its capabilities as a manufacturer, importer, and co-packer.

As a family-owned business, La Criolla upholds the high standards of quality established in 1957. The company takes special pride in bottling all its spices in glass bottles to preserve the best flavor, using only the highest-quality ingredients. No artificial additives, preservatives, or dyes are added, allowing customers to taste the difference.

La Criolla is proudly known as "El Orgullo de su olla" or "The pride of your kitchen." Discover the beauty of Latin flavors with our homemade food recipes that bring families and friends together.
