For the past 33 years, Cultural Expressions Productions and the Chicago Intercultural Alliance have been at the forefront of creating a multicultural community in Chicago. Founded by Rosita and Saladeen Alamin, the group has set a high bar for creating exceptional events that promote Afro-Latin music and dancing.


The group has been supporting the community in many ways, including raising money for children with HIV and producing all-ages inclusive events such as “Sizzling Mambo Sundays” at the Presidential Towers. In 2002, Cultural Expressions produced the first Chicago International Salsa Congress, now in its 22nd year. The CISC has become a powerful platform for personal growth, leadership, and creativity. It provides an opportunity for emerging artists to learn from and perform with professional artists in the congress showcase.


Cultural Expressions Productions and the Chicago Intercultural Alliance have set a new standard for creating a vibrant and diverse cultural community in Chicago. Their unwavering commitment to Afro-Latin music, dance, and culture has been inspiring for generations and continues to foster growth.


The congress event will feature an array of internationally acclaimed Latin artists, including Orchestra Adalberto Alvarez Y Su Son from the enchanted island of Cuba, Eddie Palmieri Salsa Orchestra, Edwin "El Calvito" Reyes, Domenic Marte from NYC, Flaco Navarra and The Razorblades from Chicago, and Freddy Kenton, Jr. The Congress will also celebrate an album release party from Freddy Kenton, Jr from Chicago Illinois.


The Congress will offer something for everyone, regardless of skill level or experience. Beginner dancers can sample the history of Afro-Latin music and start the day with a “Salsarobics” class. Experienced dancers can partake in more advanced boot camps and challenges. In addition, participants can attend lectures on Healthy Lifestyles, coupled with dance/workout workshops.
