Eva Longoria Lights Up SXSW with Flamin' Hot Inspiring Latino Story

As South by Southwest (SXSW) – Austin’s annual music, film, and tech conference – continues to expand and evolve, so does the involvement of the Latino community. Eva Longoria is making a name for herself in Hollywood, but this time, it's not in front of the camera. She's stepping behind it to make her big-screen directorial debut with the movie “Flamin’ Hot,” and she’s doing it right in her backyard of Austin, Texas.

Longoria is best known for her role in the hit television show “Desperate Housewives,” but she’s been working hard to make her mark in Hollywood behind the camera.

Longoria was drawn to the “Flamin’ Hot” project because of its inspiring message. The film is based on the true story of Richard Montanez, the son of a Mexican American family who rose from janitor to executive at Frito-Lay. Montanez created a revolutionary new flavor of chips called “Flamin’ Hot” that went on to become a cultural phenomenon.
